Khanyisa Director leads a Pilot Study on Community based social protection in Zimbabwe (February-April 2020)
This research study, commissioned by the UNDP Regional Office in Addis Ababa, is the first of five country studies in Africa. This research intends to explore the structure, function and role of community based social protection systems, as a component of broader social protection efforts, with respect to their contribution to coping and adapting to idiosyncratic and covariate shocks. The research examines the demand and supply of social protection at community level, examines the trends in its provisioning, structure, innovations, and effectiveness, and identifies gaps for policy and programming. The research uses mixed methods approach, including a quantitative household survey, focus groups, life histories, key informant interviews and review and analysis of secondary data.
